The Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, official confirmed that the 32nd match of the IPL 2022 between the Delhi Capitals (DC) and the Punjab Kings (PBKS) which was supposed to be played in the MCA Stadium in Pune, has now been shifted to the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai in order to avoid any issues due to the Covid situation withing the DC camp.
This comes after the DC physio Patrick Farhart tested positive for COVID-19 on April 15, sending the whole contingent into isolation instead of moving to Pune for their next match. Then on April 16, the Sports Massage Therapist of the team Chetan Kumar tested positive for the virus.
The floodgates opened on April 18, when Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh tested positive for the COVID-19 and had to be hospitalized for the same. Apart from him, team doctor Abhijit Salvi and social media manager Akash Mane also tested positive for the virus.

This led to the DC team undergoing several rounds of RT-PCR checking in which the rest of the team players tested negative for the virus. However, they were asked to remain in their hotel rooms.
Now the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday, decided in a meeting that in the wake of several members of the Capitals’ contingent testing positive for Covid-19, it was shifting the Wednesday’s match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings from MCA stadium in Pune to Brabourne stadium in Mumbai.
This was done to avoid any further incidents due to any undetected case during a long-distance bus journey in a closed environment.

The official release also stated that the COVID positive cases are under isolation and medical observation. They will be tested on days 6 and 7 and subject to both the tests being negative they will be re-integrated into the Delhi Capitals bio-secured bubble.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Capitals contingent will undergo another round of RT-PCR testing on the morning of April 20th and in case the match cannot take place as scheduled on April 20, the IPL will reschedule the match.
