After a few unimpressive outings in the latest edition of the Indian Premier League, veteran leg-spinner Piyush Chawla feels Gujarat Titans (GT) batsman Shubman Gill will be hungry to perform (IPL 2022).
Shubman Gill made a major effect with his encouraging knocks in prior matches, according to Chawla, who spoke to ESPNcricinfo. He did point out, though, that the batter hasn’t been able to put up large numbers in recent games.
Piyush Chawla advised the promising youngster to put more effort at the wicket and bat for longer periods. He explained:
“Shubman Gill scored runs in the first few games and hasn’t been in excellent form since. He’ll be hungry to perform because of the type of player he is. He’ll have to look to bat long if he wants to do the same.”
In his second match of the season, Gill astonished most with a brave 84 against Delhi Capitals (DC). He then put in another strong carried out in the following match, scoring 96 against Punjab Kings (PBKS).
GT can’t expect Hardik Pandya to hit runs in every game: Piyush Chawla
GT cannot anticipate Hardik Pandya to be on fire with the batting in every game, according to Chawla. He believes that the other batsmen should take accountability and contribute meaningfully.
According to Piyush Chawla, “In every game, you can’t rely on Hardik Pandya. In his last three matches, he has batted well, but the other batters must also step up. He won’t be able to score runs on his own every time. Others will have to pitch in with the bat as well. It’s fantastic to see that he’s taken on the role of team leader and excelled at it.”
On Wednesday, the Gujarat-based side will face Sunrisers Hyderabad in the season’s 40th league match.
