IPL 2022: The Only Question Will Be On Their Match-playing Consistency – Irfan Pathan On Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan, while talking about Chennai Super Kings, said that the only question will be on the match-playing consistency of the senior players like MS Dhoni, Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu in the team.

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings will kick off their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 campaign with the battle against last year’s finalists Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 26 at the Wankhede Stadium.

Meanwhile, during a discussion on Star Sports, Irfan Pathan said that the chances of CSK performing well in the Indian Premier League will depend on the form of some senior players like Dhoni, Rayudu and Robin Uthappa.

“The only question will be on their match-playing consistency, how much cricket Dhoni, Rayudu and Robin Uthappa would have played and in what form they are. We will also see how their new all-rounder Shivam Dube performs,” he said.

It will be difficult to replace Deepak Chahar at the start – Irfan Pathan

Former Indian all-rounder said that the absence of pacer Deepak Chahar in the initial stage of the Indian Premier League 2022 will be a big blow to the team.

“There will be a huge difference in the performance as well. It will have to be seen if Hangargekar is played in his place, how he performs because experience comes in very handy in the IPL. If you don’t have experience, you can stay behind even if you have the ability,” he added.

However, Irfan Pathan feels that the Chennai Super Kings have a strong squad and they have many match-winners.

“It will be difficult to replace Deepak Chahar at the start but despite that, if you see the team, it is nicely set up. If someone has picked back the most guys at the auction, it is CSK. They have gone with their settled team.”

“They have picked players from their champion team of 2021. They have brought back Robin Uthappa, Rayudu and Bravo.
