IPL 2022: Updated Points Table, Orange Cap and Purple Cap After Match 49 RCB vs CSK

Royal Challengers Banglore returned to winning ways in IPL 2022 after 3 consecutive defeats as they beat Chennai Super Kings by 13 runs.

Earlier in the day MS Dhoni won the toss and Put Royal Challengers Bangalore to bat first. RCB had a good start but then Moeen Ali broke the first wicket partnership of 62 runs in the 8th over.

Glenn Maxwell came into bat at 3, but was run-out and couldn’t add much to the scorecard. Virat Kohli soon departed too as he was clean bowled by Ali.

Rajat Patidar and Mahipal Lamror had a valuable partnership in the middle which put things back on track for RCB, but then in the slog overs, RCB lost their momentum once again as they kept losing wickets.

Maheesh Theekshana returned in the 19th over to pick 3 wickets which stalled RCB’s innings massively. But Dinesh Karthik was still at the crease, he scored 16 runs off the last over and helped RCB post 173 runs on the board.

CSK had a good opening stand as Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway added 54 runs for the first wicket. But then a flurry of wickets within 20 runs stalled run-scoring for CSK. Maxwell picked up 2 wickets and Shahbaz Ahmed picked up the important wicket of Gaikwad in this period.

Devon Conway reached his second consecutive 50 in the season, as he scored 56 runs, but in trying to go after Wanindu Hasaranga he got out at deep square leg.

Ravindra Jadeja’s poor run with the bat continued as he got out for just 3 runs to Harshal Patel. Patel then also the wicket of Moeen Ali. Josh Hazelwood took the wicket of MS Dhoni in the penultimate over of the CSK’s chase and ended all the chances of a CSK win.

This win has put RCB in the top 4 of the points table with 12 points in their kitty. Gujarat Titans still lead the table with Lucknow Super Giants right behind them.

Updated Orange Cap:

There were no significant changes in the chart of leading run scorers in the tournament after match 49 between RCB and CSK as Jos Buttler continues to lead the table, followed by KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan.

Updated Purple Cap:

Yuzvendra Chahal still leads the table. While, RCB spinner Wanindu Hasaranga made his way up in the top 5 after picking 1 wicket against CSK in the fixture.
