Kolkata Knight Riders have kept themselves alive in IPL 2022 as they beat SRH by 54 runs.

Earlier in the day Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bat first. Venkatesh Iyer got out early in the 2nd over itself. Nitish Rana and Ajinkya Rahane then added some runs in the middle before Umran Malik came to dislodge both the batters in the same over.

Ajinkya Rahane got out courtesy of a brilliant catch by Shahshank Singh. While Rana played a no shot to and was caught by Singh.

Shreyas Iyer was once again dismissed by Umran Malik as Iyer tried to play a chip shot in the leg side. But all he could do was pop up the ball in the air.

KKR were struggling at 94-5 at one stage. But then Sam Billings and Andre Russell had a 50+ partnership which took KKR’s innings back on track. Russell scored 20 runs in the last over which lifted KKR’s score to 177.

SRH’s start to the chase was poor once again as they lost Kane Williamson early in the chase. Soon Rahul Tripathi too departed courtesy of a brilliant caught and bowled from Tim Southee.

After this win, KKR has still kept themselves alive in the tournament while SRH are still in the tournament but after having won 5 on the trot, they have lost as many games on the trot. This now means that the points table is now cluttered with teams with 12-14 points. It’s all going to book down to net run rate to find out who the 3 other teams would be in the playoffs.

Updated Orange Cap:

Jos Buttler still leads the table. There has been no other change in this chart.

Updated Purple Cap:

There has been no change in this table as well as Wanindu Hasaranga continues to lead the table.
