The Rajasthan Royals lost the toss yet again and were forced to field first. They only gave up 3 runs in the first two overs and also got Ruturaj Gaikwad out. However, Moeen Ali went on a rampage after that. CSK scored 72 runs in the powerplay while Ali completed his half-century in just 19 balls.

RR, on the other hand, brilliantly pulled things back following the powerplay. CSK scored just over 40 runs in the last ten overs, limiting them to 150 runs. Ali alone scored 93 runs off 57 balls. The best bowler for RR was Obed McCoy who gave away just 20 runs and picked up 2 wickets.

CSK seemed like they would score anywhere between 180 and 200 runs at one point, but the spin combo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal pulled things back for RR in the middle over.

RR didn’t have the best of beginnings in their pursuit, as they once again lost Jos Buttler early. But in the midst, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson formed a solid little partnership.

However, as CSK’s spinners came into the attack, RR found it difficult to score runs. Moeen Ali, Mitchell Santner and Prashant Solanki all got wickets in the middle and brought CSK back into the game. In the end, it was Ravichandran Ashwin who took RR home as he scored 40 runs off just 23 balls.

The win means that RR finishes the league phase at the 2nd place on the points table. They will now play Qualifier 1 against Gujarat Titans on 24th May.

Updated Orange Cap:

Despite a terrible 2nd half where Buttler has scored just 138 runs from 7 games, he still leads the batting charts. KL Rahul is 2nd on the list.

Updated Purple Cap:

Yuzvendra Chahal picked up a couple of wickets and got back to the top of the wickets charts. Wanindu Hasaranga is 2nd on the list.
