Chennai Super Kings lost their 6th game of IPL 2022 as they lost the game by 11 runs to Punjab Kings.
Earlier in the day Ravindra Jadeja won the toss and chose to field first. While CSK didn’t make any changes to their XI, Punjab made three changes to their side.
PBKS did not have a great start as Mayank Agarwal failed to impress yet again as he got out for a low score. But then Shikhar Dhawan and Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who was making a comeback into the side had a 100+ run partnership in the middle. That gave Punjab the perfect launchpad for the end overs.
Rajapaksa tried to accelerate but got out in the process. Liam Livingstone though played a good cameo of 17 runs and took PBKS to a total of over 180.
Shikhar Dhawan playing in his 200th IPL game scored a crucial 88 off 55 balls.
CSK once again had a terrible opening stand as they lost Robin Uthappa early. Then Mitchell Santner too got out. But then Ambati Rayudu and Ruturaj Gaikwad had a little partnership in the middle. But despite their good partnership, the required run rate was going up and in trying to go after Kagiso Rabada, Ruturaj lost his wicket.
Then Ambati Rayudu took it upon himself but he was outdone by Rabada by a sheering yorker with CSK still needing 35 runs from 13 balls. CSK needed 27 runs from the last over and MS Dhoni was on the strike but Rishi Dhawan who was making a comeback in the IPL held his nerve and won it for Punjab Kings.
