IPL 2022: Virat Kohli Joins Royal Challengers Bangalore Bio-Bubble In Mumbai

Virat Kohli has joined Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) pre-season training before the Indian Premier League’s (15th) eagerly awaited 15th edition (IPL 2022).

Kohli s presence was confirmed on social media by the Bangalore-based franchise. From the start of the cash-rich league, the right-handed batter has been a part of the team.

However, key players of the RCB team have begun practising in Mumbai for this year’s valuable competition. Kohli is also likely to rejoin the team soon alongside his teammates.

It’s important to note that the 33-year-old had been in charge of the team for the past nine years. Kohli may have stepped down as captain following the previous edition, but he is still an important part of their performer lineup.

Faf Du Plessis will take over as captain after Virat Kohli stepped down:

RCB bought South Africa batsman Du Plessis for Rs 7 crore in the IPL 2022 auction last month. Last season, the Proteas star was a key member of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), helping them defeat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the final.

Faf has previously played in the IPL for CSK and the Rising Pune Supergiants. This is the first time in the IPL that he is not paired with MS Dhoni. He talked about how important Virat Kohli is to the RCB team and how sharing responsibility with him is a huge plus.

Kohli has proven himself as being one of the best players in the tournament. He is the league’s all-time highest run-scorer, having scored 6283 runs in 207 games.

Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammed Siraj were retained by RCB ahead of the IPL 2022 mega-auction last month.

On March 27, the Faf du Plessis-led side will face Punjab Kings at the DY Patil Stadium in their first match of the season. Along with Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans, they are in Group B.
