The two-day IPL 2022 mega auction concluded with many players finding new homes and some going back to their franchises in a frantic bidding process. However, one name raised quite a curiosity when Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought a certain Ramesh Kumar for his base price of INR 20 Lakhs.

Not many knew who this cricketer was or what his specialty was. However, the Shahrukh Khan-owned franchise bagged Ramesh’s services during the accelerated round of the bidding on Day 2. The officials present at the KKR auction table seemed pretty pleased as no other team went after the youngster.

Ramesh Kumar Aka ‘Narine Jalalabadiya’- A Tennis Ball Batting Superstar

Now who is this Ramesh Kumar, the question was on the minds of everyone, as no one seemed to find much information on him. Now reports have emerged in which some surprising details have come to light about Ramesh Kumar, who is a well-known tennis ball cricket player and hails from Manasa in Punjab.

In fact, according to some reports, he is quite a star in tennis ball cricket tournaments and goes by the moniker ‘Narine Jalalabadiya’ and has even smashed a fifty in just 10 balls in one of the games, video of which went viral on social media. In the clip, the southpaw can be seen slamming sixes for fun in a local tennis-ball match.

The 23-year-old is a left-handed batter and bowler and is yet to play professional cricket. it has also been reported that Ramesh Kumar went to trials for KKR and impressed them enough.

Meanwhile, the 2012 and 2014 Indian Premier League (IPL) winners, who also made it into the finals of the IPL 2021, reacquired the services of Pat Cummins, Nitish Rana, Shivam Mavi, and Sheldon Jackson. Shreyas Iyer was KKR’s most-expensive player at the event as they splashed a whopping INR 12.25 crore to get him on board and is likely to captain the franchise going forward.
