Aakash Chopra believes it is “too late in the day” for SunRisers Hyderabad to change Kane Williamson’s batting position (SRH).

The former Indian batsman believes Hyderabad is now “obstinate” in its refusal to modify a choice taken at the outset of the IPL 2022, claiming that it makes no real difference at this level of the competition.

With 199 runs at an average of 19.90 and an unsatisfactory strike rate of 96.14, Williamson is having his worst IPL season.

As an alternative, many have moved to No. 3 or perhaps No. 4. With three games left in the league stage, Chopra thinks the SunRisers must continue with Rahul Tripathi in that role and not abandon Williamson.

According to ESPNcricinfo: “Maybe it’s too late in the day. We all make a choice, stick to it for a while, then get stubborn and say, “Now I won’t alter it, that’s it.” Then, if you’re the captain and a fantastic batter, you say ‘one more time.’ Whether he bats third or first, he’ll score runs eventually.”

‘Hyderabad will want to end the losing run’: Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra stated that the SunRisers will be determined to break their losing streak when they face the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the MCA Stadium on Saturday.

“Hyderabad will be looking to snap their losing streak… They will support themselves. They began their season on this ground, and it did not go well against Rajasthan Royals.

“In terms of the short-ball strategy, no team has gotten out on more short balls than this one (Knight Riders). As a result, you’ll see that exploited.”

Aakash Chopra continued with the following statement: “Umran Malik, who had two disappointing matches, is likely to rebound here. He can quickly bowl bouncers.

“All players, including the captain, will be required to score runs. It will be necessary for everyone to contribute. T Natarajan is missing from the team.”

On the 14th of May, the Kolkata Knight Riders will face the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
