Former Indian cricketers Parthiv Patel and Ajay Jadeja have raised questions over Chennai Super Kings’ tactics of MS Dhoni’s over-involvement in captaincy despite Ravindra Jadeja taking over the reins of the team ahead of IPL 2022. Chennai Super Kings in a high scoring thriller lost to one of IPL’s new entrants the Lucknow Super Giants by 6 wickets in their 2nd game here on Thursday at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.

KKR vs PBKS Dream11 Prediction

This is the first time in CSK’S history that they have lost their opening two games of the season. It’s to be noted that just prior to the start of the new season former captain MS Dhoni stepped down as CSK’S captain and handed over the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja. But after the two losses, some experts believe that the former captain is calling the shots.

Former India Cricketers Lash Out At MS Dhoni For Dictating Play With Ravindra Jadeja Being The Captain

Former Indian cricketers Ajay Jadeja and Parthiv Patel have hit out at CSK’S leadership as they believe that MS Dhoni is still making important decisions in the game.

MS Dhoni’s decision to quit captaincy was to ensure that the baton is handed over to the next generation as he doesn’t have a lot of years left in him as a player. It wasn’t a surprise when Dhoni quit captaincy as he did the same when he resigned from the Indian cricket teams’ limited over the captaincy. In his later years as an India player, he guided Virat Kohli during Kohli’s captaincy tenure.

Nevertheless, Ajay Jadeja in a conversation with Cricbuzz Live said he doesn’t like the fact Dhoni even after stepping down from captaincy is still making decisions. “It would have been better had this been the last league game and with qualification on the line Dhoni making the calls. But this is just the second match of the season. Dhoni is a big player, and I’m his biggest fan, but even as a fan, I did not like it.”

Parthiv Patel who was the other member on the panel had similar views as he believes that if MS has left the captaincy then Jadeja should be given a free hand totally. “If the idea is to develop a new leader then, you got to give them the freedom, Jadeja can only become a captain if he is allowed to lead. He will only learn when he makes mistakes”, concluded Patel.

CSK have just played 2 games in this season and they have lost both, with the captaincy scenario not looking sorted, only time will tell how this new era beckons for the 4 times IPL champions.
