Shoaib Akhtar, a former Pakistan pace, feels the Mumbai Indians (MI) will end up winning their first match of the season on Saturday against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

The five-time IPL champions  Mumbai Indians sit at the bottom of the points standings after losing their first five games. However, Akhtar believes that MI has recovered from such problems in the past and that they are potential of doing just that too.

The following is what Shoaib Akhtar had to say regarding MI’s campaign:

“Mumbai does not wake up until they have lost 5-6 games. We’ve seen a resurgence of interest in the backend in several IPLs. They have excellent management, and while they may have made some errors during the auction, I believe they will begin to recover.”

Dewald and Tilak can accomplish wonders for Mumbai Indians in a few years:

Suryakumar Yadav cited the examples of Dewald Brevis and Tilak Verma, who both scored 49 off 25 balls and 36 off 20 balls against the Punjab Kings (PBKS). He added:

“We must have gotten a lot of positives from the first game till now. We have two beautiful middle-order batsmen for us as we did in the previous game. Dewald and Tilak are both teenagers, aged 19-20. They’re demonstrating what they’re capable of. They’ll be able to accomplish great things in a few years. These are the minor, good elements that I believe are critical when attending each game.”

Yadav stated that the team’s atmosphere has been positive:

“I see everyone on the ground helping each other, even while they are hitting in the nets. When they get back to the hotel after a game, they attempt to spend as much time as possible with one other. When new players join the team and help to create that atmosphere, it’s always a good sign.”

LSG will be eager to get back on track after a disappointing setback to the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their last encounter. MI, on the other hand, will be hungry to prove a point and will put KL Rahul and his team to the test.
