We Didn’t Want To Lose Too Many Wickets: Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan’s knock was very important in the context of the game as it came after Mayank Agarwal failed to get going yet again in the tournament. Dhawan along with Bhanuka Rajapaksa then had a 100+ partnership for the 2nd wicket. Both of them scored at a decent pace and took the team to a position from where they could accelerate.

“The process, I always talk about it, I focus on it. About my fitness, my approach – I keep working on those skills”, Dhawan said about his approach towards the shortest format of the game.

About the innings, he said, “The wicket was stopping a bit, I tried to go for the big shots, but I couldn’t connect. But I kept my calm. Once I get set, I can get those boundaries, that’s what I bank on. While batting first it’s about putting pressure on the bowers and getting boundaries. We don’t have to lose to many wickets, that was our conscious effort.”

Dhawan who led the side earlier in the season in the absence of Mayank Agarwal said that he is now a senior member of the side, “I have become a senior in the team, I give a lot of input to the players and my players. The youngsters think a lot, sometimes they overthink, so I try to communicate with them. I talk about the law of attraction and how to achieve big in life.”

PBKS management would hope that Dhawan can continue the same form going ahead.
