On Wednesday, May 4, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ended a three-match winless drought with a 13-run victory against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
Former India batsman Virender Sehwag appreciated Mahipal Lomror’s innings of 42 runs off 27 balls.
The left-handed all-rounder batted at No. 4 and contributed a key innings to his team’s 173-8 total.
Sehwag claimed on Cricbuzz that the team would not have hit 170 if it wasn’t for the former U-19 World Cup player.
“RCB would have not been able to achieve 170 without Mahipal Lomror. He pitched an essential, vital inning. He laid the groundwork for Dinesh Karthik’s efforts. It’s encouraging to see young Indian players succeed, and every team has at least one in the bottom middle order.”
Former India international Ajay Jadeja believes that bringing in inexperienced players might be a benefit in disguise.
“Lomror’s innings were crucial. He not only took the burden at first and established a relationship, but he also pushed when it was time. Opposing teams frequently lack sufficient information on these young athletes.”
“As a result, in this competition, playing with new players is beneficial. As a result, they are benefiting from the simple moments. They appear to be unconcerned.”
‘RCB has taken a major step forward in the playoffs with this win’: Virender Sehwag
Virender Sehwag who believes RCB is comeback in the playoff fight said:
“They’ve taken a big step forward in the playoffs with this win. When they defeated LSG, I believed there was no way this team would miss the playoffs. While Hasaranga occasionally lacks the ability of an international bowler, Shahbaz and Maxwell have stood up to the plate. So there are five pure bowlers, followed by these two. There are numerous alternatives available to the captain.” Virender Sehwag said.
After three straight losses in the IPL, Royal Challengers Bangalore got back on track. They won by 13 runs over Chennai Super Kings. With the win, RCB has moved up to fourth place in the points table.
