RCB vs CSK: We Are Moving In The Right Direction - Faf du Plessis After 13-run Win Over CSK
Royal Challengers Bangalore returned to winning ways after 3 consecutive defeats in the IPL. They defeated Chennai Super Kings by 13 runs. The win has put RCB 4th on the points table. After the win, RCB captain, Faf du Plessis was a happy man as he said that the team is moving in the right direction.
If RCB had lost the game, they would have made it difficult for them to qualify for the playoffs.
We Definitely Needed That Win: Faf du Plessis
After having put into bat first, they got off to a good start as Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli had a 50+ stand but then 3 quick wickets put RCB on the back foot. Young Rajat Patidar and Mahipal Lamror then put things back on track for them. But once Rajat Patidar got out after putting in a 40+ stand with Mahipal Lamror, RCB again lost their way in the death overs as they lost 3 wickets in the 19th over.
But then Dinesh Karthik scored 16 runs in the last over and took RCB to a respectable 173.
In bowling Glenn Maxwell put his hands up and got the wickets of Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu, Shahbaz Ahmed also got the wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad to put CSK on the backfoot after they got to a good start.
In the slog overs, Josh Hazelwood and Harshal Patel just choked the CSK batters and also got wickets at regular intervals. In the end, RCB won by 13 runs.
On the win, Faf du Plessis said, “We definitely needed that. We put up a decent total. We are moving in the right direction. We have been very good in the bowling department. I thought 165 would be nice to get. I thought the PP was a good time to score.”
He further added: “The fielding was amazing. Some great catching and good bowling indeed. We are very lucky to have experienced guys. Very good to have me lean on the senior players. Just keep improving in the batting department. We want one of the top four to bat through. Need to keep playing the positive brand of cricket. Once you get an opportunity to think of the run rate, you will be able to the put on the gas and go for it.”
RCB would like to take this momentum into their remaining games and would aim to make the playoffs 3rd year in a row.
