Former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri wants Virat Kohli to wear the fearless band when Royal Challengers Bangalore take on table-toppers Gujarat Titans in their final game of the league stage on Thursday.

Kohli’s batting form has been the talking point in the IPL 2022, the former RCB skipper aggregates 236 runs in 13 innings at 19.67 and a strike rate of 113

46. He managed to score his first half-century against Gujarat Titans.

Virat Kohli irked by his dismal form against Punjab Kings

Kohli looked in great touch in the last game against Punjab Kings with some brilliant strokes off Arshdeep Singh and Harpreet Brar. But once Kagiso Rabad was introduced in the bowling attack, the senior RCB batter perished for 14-ball 20, including two fours and a six.

The former RCB batter was livid with his dismissal against PBKS and smashed his bat in frustration as he looked upwards at the sky and uttered a few words while walking back to the pavilion.

There’s no need to be disappointed: Ravi Shastri to Virat Kohli

Shastri, who shares a great camaraderie with Kohli since his coaching stint with the Indian team in 2014, suggested the Indian batter to have faith in himself and display fearless batting.

If Virat Kohli opens the innings, then he should play fearless cricket. I feel that Kohli hasn’t had any luck on his side. He must think that he is putting in all the hard work but still hasn’t been able to score runs. This will not be the case all the time,” Shastri told ESPNCricinfo.

“A time will come when he will get that opportunity and he will have to grab it with both hands when it comes. There’s no need to be disappointed and he should rather think that he is a world-class player and shouldn’t let the opportunity go once it comes,” he added.

RCB are in a precarious situation in the IPL 2022 as a win against Gujarat Titans might not guarantee them a playoffs berth and they will have to rely on MI to defeat Delhi Capitals in their final game.
