India spinner Piyush Chawla has praised Rajasthan Royals’ England opener Jos Buttler for having a bumper outing in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) season, as he leads the most runs chart and holds the Orange Cap for most runs.
The right-handed opener has been given all the freedom to dominate the opposition from the start and he has answered with 491 runs in 8 matches at a strike rate of 161.80 and an average of 81. Buttler has also made three centuries in the ongoing IPL 2021, just behind Virat Kohli’s record of four tons in one IPL season, when the RCB batter had hit 4 centuries in IPL 2016.
He has hit two back-to-back centuries in the IPL 2022 so far and will have the chance to become the first cricketer to score a hat-trick of hundreds in IPL when RR take on Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday.
Piyush Chawal Lauds Jos Buttler For His Run Making Spree In IPL 2022
Meanwhile, India spinner Piyush Chawla, who went unsold in the IPL 2022 mega auction and has joined the Star Sports commentary team for the ongoing tournament, lauded Jos Buttler for his run making spree and claimed that some players score these many runs in an entire season which the English cricketer has achieved halfway through.
“We are only halfway through the tournament and he’s already scored 490-odd runs. Generally, people score that many runs in an entire season. He’s batting extremely well this season,” said Chawla on Star Sports’ show Cricket Live.
Jos Buttler has made 100 against MI, 70* against RCB, 54 against GT and twin centuries, 103 against KKR and 116 against DC in the ongoing IPL 2022. Not only this, but Buttler also leads the charts on most sixes hit so far as he has slammed 32 maximums and 41 fours in his 7 matches thus far and it seems like, if he continues in this vein, he might break Kohli’s record of 4 centuries in one season and possibly the record of 973 runs as well.
