MS Dhoni’s fans should not write thank you messages to him if they expect him to retire after Friday’s IPL 2022 match against Rajasthan Royals, according to Aakash Chopra.

The former opener Aakash believes Dhoni will return for another season if Chennai Super Kings are unable to find a good successor. Dhoni stepped resigned as skipper of the Super Kings ahead of IPL 2022, only to be asked back after Ravindra Jadeja decided to step down mid-season to concentrate on his primary strengths.

Aakash Chopra stated that the team may try to hire a new skipper ahead of the 2023 season, but given how well the IPL 2022 season progressed for the team, Dhoni would want to stay on to assist the new captain.

Aakash Chopra explained: “No, you must not do so. He may well not play next year, but it will not happen if I, you, and everybody else on social media expect it to. So be prepared for the unexpected. Because the King’s heir isn’t ready yet, I believe he’ll play next season.”

“Who will take the throne from you? They may approach the next auction with a better mentality in mind while looking for a skipper. But, if the leader isn’t ready, I wouldn’t be astonished if Mahendra Singh Dhoni continues to play.”

‘This bowling will abruptly seem more lethal when Deepak Chahar is available’: Aakash Chopra

Once Chahar recovers, Aakash Chopra believes the Super Kings will be a more entertaining and lethal team to watch, with Chahar’s talent to pluck wickets in the powerplay becoming their distinguishing characteristic. Chopra wrapped up by saying:

“Imagine how much fun it would have been if they had bowled together. Swing your right arm to one side and your left arm to the other. Mukesh Choudhary, in their opinion, is the best find of the competition so far. Next year, they’ll undoubtedly want to build around him.”

“This bowling will suddenly look more lethal once Deepak is around. The Chennai Super Kings of next year, in my opinion, will pick up 1-2 wickets in the powerplay in every match.”

In the Tata IPL’s sixty-eighth match, Rajasthan Royals will face Chennai Super Kings for the first time.
