Rajasthan Royals lost their 3rd game of the season in IPL 2022 as Mumbai Indians beat them by 5 wickets to register their first win of the season. After the loss, Sanju Samson said that his team could have scored a few more runs to have a chance at winning the game.

Mumbai Indians had won the toss and put RR to bat first. They did well to restrict them to 158 runs in the first innings and then chased the score down with 4 balls to spare.

The Wicket Was Not Easy To Bat On In The First Innings: Sanju Samson

RR have defended well this season as they have won most of their games batting first but against MI on Saturday, they just failed to put up a competitive score on the board.

Batting first, Devdutt Padikkal could not get going yet again while Buttler too found it hard. Even though he scored 67 runs in the game, for the most part of his innings he struggled to connect the ball. 4 sixes in an over to Hrithik Shokeen is what changed Buttler’s numbers in the game.

Samson failed to convert his start while Shimron Hetmyer had a bad day. R Ashwin did play a little cameo in the end but it wasn’t enough for RR to up a fighting total.

“We could have scored a few more runs. Dew came in and it was tough to bowl as the ball was getting wet. We changed the ball as it was getting really wet. Different venues are playing in different ways. Batting first here was tough as it was two paced. Few more runs with the bat would have helped,” Samson said after the game.

This was RR’s third loss in the season but they still sit comfortably on the 2nd spot on the points table as they have 12 points from 9 games. They would hope to make a strong comeback in their next game.
