Jos Buttler was in scintillating form in the first half of the tournament as he had scored 3 centuries in the first 7 matches but after that, he lost his touch. He managed just 138 runs in the next 7 matches. But he and his team had done enough to finish in the top 2 of the points table after the league stage.

Jos Buttler struggled to get going in qualifier 1 against Gujarat Titans as he rode his luck throughout his innings, but he made the chances count as he scored 89 runs off 56 balls. After struggling in the first half of his innings, he was near his best in the slog overs.

But he returned to his belligerent best against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Qualifier 2 at Ahmedabad as he scored his 4th century of the season. He scored 106 runs from 60 balls and took his side home once again this season.

Jos Buttler became just the 3rd player in the history of the IPL to complete 800 runs in the IPL. He now has 818 runs from 16 games. Kohli’s record of 973 runs may be far fetched for Buttler but he can surely break the 900 run mark if he gets going again in the Finals vs GT.

After the game, Jos Buttler reflected on the game and said, “I came to the season with very low expectations but a lot of energy. It is very exciting to stand in the final. I had a season of two halves and had very honest conversations with people really close to me. I was feeling the pressure midway, and it was only about a week ago that I opened up about it. It helped me and I went to Kolkata with a freer mind. Sometimes it is not working for me, and there are times when a younger me would have played a shot and come out.

But it’s something that Sanga has been saying that the longer you stay, you give yourselves a chance to find a way. Great excitement to have the opportunity to play in the final of the biggest tournament in T20 cricket. Shane Warne has been such an influential figure for RR. We will miss him dearly.”

Jos would hope that he has one more great innings under his sleeve for the final.
