Dinesh Karthik has been in sublime form in IPL 2022 for Royal Challengers Bangalore. There is no one better than him this season in finishing games.
He once again showed his class as he smashed an 8 ball 30 against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Dinesh Karthik’s Cameo Helps RCB Post 192 In First Innings
Earlier in the day, Faf du Plessis won the toss and chose to bat first. RCB had the worst possible start as they lost Virat Kohli on the first ball of the match. This was Kohli’s third golden duck of the season. Earlier against the same opponent, Kohli had got out for a first-ball duck against Marco Jansen. But then Rajat Patidar and Faf du Plessis added over 100 runs for the 2nd wicket. Patidar got out for 48 in the 13th over. Glenn Maxwell and Faf added 54 runs for the 3rd wicket.
Once Maxwell got out, it was all Dinesh Karthik in the remaining 10 balls. In the last over, on the third ball, Karthik hit it flat straight to the deep mid-wicket fielder, but Rahul Tripathi dropped the catch. On the next ball, Karthik hit another six, this time over the bowler’s head. On the next delivery, he picked up the slower ball and deposited it towards deep mid-wicket. On the last ball, he hit it straight down the ground, the long-off fielder had no chance to stop the ball. In his last 5 balls, he hit 4 sixes and a four. Fazalhaq Farooqi, the 4th Afghani to play for SRH had to deal with the best finisher of this season in his very first match in IPL.
Sunrisers Hyderabad have lost 3 on the trot after winning 5 on the trot. They would hope to chase down this target otherwise it may get difficult for them to qualify for the playoffs.
