Suresh Raina, Faf du Plessis, And Ambati Rayudu Released By Chennai Super Kings (CSK) In IPL 2022 Retention. Chennai Super Kings have released three big players from the team ahead of IPL 2022 Mega Auctions. CSK haven’t retained their most consistent batsman, Suresh Raina. Fondly known as MR IPL, Suresh Raina didn’t find a place amongst the four players retained by the franchise.
Raina is the highest run-scorer for Chennai Super Kings in IPL. He has played an instrumental role in helping CSK become one of the most successful teams in the competition. Raina’s performances over the few seasons, however, saw a dip.
There is no denying the fact he is no longer the batsman that he used to be. It will be interesting to see if CSK buys him back at the auctions or he plies his trade for a different franchise next year. In his illustrious IPL career, he has scored 4687 runs for Chennai Super Kings in 176 matches.

Besides, Faf du Plessis has also been released by CSK. He was outstanding for the franchise in IPL 2021. The South African formed a successful opening pair with Gaikwad and finished the tournament as the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament.
In 16 matches, Du Plessis scored 635 runs at an average of 45.36. Despite that, he couldn’t find a place in the retention list released by CSK.
The third notable exclusion is Ambati Rayudu. Rayudu was an integral part of CSK’s middle-order. He has played some telling knocks for the franchise over the years. CSK bought for a hefty sum of 2.2 crores ahead of the 2018 edition of the tournament.
Rayudu lived up to all the expectations as he scored the most runs for the team during that season. His performances helped CSK win their third IPL title. Rayudu has been one of the most consistent scorers for the Yellow Army since his arrival. Overall, he has scored 1500 runs for CSK in 61 matches. He will find himself back at the auction pool next year.
