South Africa pacer Dale Steyn had a Twitter Q&A session with his fans on social media which touched upon his recent comments on comparing the Indian Premier League and the Pakistan Super League and his decision to opt-out of the IPL 2021 auction.

Steyn had enraged quite a few of his Indian fans and followers when he picked the PSL over the IPL in terms of quality, despite playing for the IPL since 2008 and for various franchises as well. He was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team for IPL 2019 and 2020. He played only a handful of matches in 2019 due to injury, while played 3 matches in IPL 2020, picking one wicket and warming the bench.

This played a lot of role in Steyn being let go by the RCB team ahead of the IPL 2021 auction and the fast bowler decided to opt-out of the auction to focus on family. However, he played for the PSL 2021 and is scheduled to turn out for his team when the PSL 2021 returns in June to complete its remaining matches.

During the Q&A, a fan asked Dale Steyn to pick his favorite IPL team and the fast bowler decided to choose the defending and five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians as his preferred team. He said that though all the teams were his favorites, MI has the most solid team. He also said his favorite player Quinton de Kock plays for the MI and he supports him.

“All teams, but Mumbai seem to have a solid thing going. QDK also one of my favorite players so always support him too,” Dale Steyn tweeted.

Dale Steyn Reasons Why He Opts To Play For Smaller T20 Leagues

During the Q/A session, Steyn also made heads turn when a Twitter user shared his take as to why the South African chose to name PSL over IPL in a recent interaction. The fast bowler admitted that the reason was the same, as he was looking for more playing opportunities than warming the bench.

Steyn responded by saying, “100% truth. And if I was selected might not even play, hence playing smaller leagues and guaranteed a spot in the starting 11 seems a more obvious choice for me at my point of my career, doesn’t mean IPL isn’t still the biggest and most obvious goal for all other cricketers.”
