Just IN: Two New IPL Teams To Be Announced On 25th October

As per the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) official release on September 28, 2021, the appointment of two new Indian Premier League (IPL) teams will be announced on 25th October 2021. The BCCI had already confirmed previously that the IPL 2022 next year, which will be the 15th edition of the most popular and richest T20 league in the world, will be a 10-team event.
The only other time Indian Premier League had 10 teams was in 2011 with Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Pune Warriors India joining the fray. The experiment lasted just one season which contained of 74 games as the teams were divided into groups of five each where they played one another twice and each team from the other group once.
Meanwhile, the BCCI had recently extended the deadline, making the ITT document available for purchase till October 10. The deadline for it previously was October 5. The board would answer the queries till September 29 and the auction for the teams, which was to be held on October 17, will now take place in Dubai on October 25.
“The IPL Media Rights tender for the cycle 2023-2027 will be released immediately after the appointment of two new IPL teams which is scheduled to be announced on 25th October 2021,” BCCI posted in their official release.
ITW And Group M Are Among Interested Parties To Purchase The Invitation To Tender (ITT) Documents To Buy Two New IPL Franchises
Top sports and broadcast consulting agencies like ITW and Group M are among half a dozen parties that have purchased the Invitation To Tender (ITT) documents for the new Indian Premier League (IPL) teams, which will be announced on October 25. The BCCI has set INR 2000 crore as the base price for new teams and has clarified that the purchase of the ITT document is no suggestion that the party would participate in the purchase process.
Cricbuzz had previously reported that Sanjiv Goenka of the RPSG Group, Ahmedabad-based Adani Group, Torrent Pharmaceuticals, and Aurobindo Pharma are amongst the interested parties, with Adani Group aiming to buy the franchise based in Ahmedabad.
