The head coach of the Chennai Super Kings, Stephen Fleming, has opened up on CSK’s woes this season and said that the team has run out of juice. On Monday, Chennai Super Kings faced their seventh loss of the season in IPL 2020 as they were beaten by a rather dominant Rajasthan Royals (RR), who won the game by 7 wickets.

CSK have had a forgetful season so far with the bat, ball, and on the field. MS Dhoni, their skipper has faced a lot of heat for improper team management and team selection. The Purple Cap holder of IPL 2019, Imran Tahir, has been warming the bench for the first 10 games and this just goes on to show as to how poor team management has caused a lot of problem for the 3-time IPL champions.

Stephen Fleming Opens Up On Chennai Super Kings’ Debacle In IPL 2020

“It’s fair to say looking at the table now that this team may have run out of juice,” head coach Stephen Fleming said in the post-match presentation, revealing that the morale in the dressing room was alarmingly low.

“If you’re looking at the three-year cycle – we won the first year; lost off the last ball last year, and we always thought that the third year with an ageing squad would be difficult. And Dubai [UAE] has challenged us with a whole new set of requirements,” he said.

Fleming Not Very Optimistic About CSK’s Playoff Spot From Hereon

“I think there’s an outside chance that we can possibly get through, but when you’re relying on other results and a change of form for your own team, it’s very hard to be upbeat and positive,” Fleming said, echoing his skipper’s feelings.

Chennai Super Kings are now almost eliminated from IPL 2020 owing to the plethora of losses that they have suffered in this IPL season. They will surely look to win their remaining games in order to be in contention for the playoff spot. If they fail to do so, it will be the first time in IPL history that CSK won’t qualify for the playoff despite participating in the tournament.
