The cricketer from Tamil Nadu joined Kings XI Punjab ahead of the 2018 edition of the IPL. The management named him as the skipper, but Ravichandran Ashwin failed to deliver the goods for his side. Although he earned praise for his technical ability but the cricketer couldn’t take Punjab to the coveted trophy. Kings XI Punjab lost track midway in the competition after making a good start.
As a result, the Punjab franchise has let go of their senior cricketer, and Delhi Capitals have grabbed the opportunity. Ravichandran Ashwin brings a lot to the table apart from his off-spin. He is also a handy batsman in the lower-order and has the experience to guide a young captain like Shreyas Iyer. As he departs, Ashwin failed his stint with Kings XI Punjab as a memorable one.

Ravichandran Ashwin to play for Delhi in next IPL
“My stint at Kings XI was fantastic, to say the least. The experience enriched me in every possible way. I was given the role of captaincy, that was new boundaries I explored. Within my purview, I thought I did a fair job, if not a very good job, but these decisions were not mine entirely,” Ashwin said.
Speaking about the trade that garnered a lot of media attention, Ravichandran Ashwin feels the franchise was probably not happy with his performance. The cricketer didn’t want to cite any excuses and took it as his failure and said that he is looking forward toward his time at Delhi Capitals in the next edition.
“There are other factors; the owners did feel I haven’t delivered, which is true because I could not take the team through to the playoffs in both the seasons. You can give excuses why we could not do that, but I am someone who takes it under my chin and admits that ‘yes I couldn’t deliver.’ The trade was more initiated rather my doing,” he said.
