Royal Challengers Bangalore’s quest for the elusive IPL title continues as they were knocked out by Eoin Morgan’s Kolkata Knight Riders in the Eliminator match on Monday in Sharjah.

After opting to bat first, RCB posted a meagre total of 138/7 as West Indies spinner Sunil Narine wreaked havoc with the ball as he picked the crucial wickets of skipper Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell to end with the figures of 4/21.

Sunil Narine’s brilliant performance helped KKR beat RCB in the Eliminator match

Narine’s impact was not only restricted with his bowling, but he also made sure to count his batting performance, too, as he clobbered three continuous sixes against Daniel Christian’s bowling in the 12th over. Narine’s carnage brought down the required run rate to less than seven runs per over.

Some brilliant bowling by Harshal Patel (2/19) and Mohammed Siraj (2/19) pushed the game to the final over.

Christian had seven runs to defend in that decisive, over which he failed to do so as Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan scooped the ball for a four, and KKR won by four wickets.

AB de Villiers told his son one of the greatest morales of life

It was also RCB’s last match under the captaincy of Kohli as he had earlier decided to give up the captaincy at the end of the season after leading the team for nearly a decade.

RCB’s talismanic batsman AB de Villiers’ wife Danielle posted a beautiful message told by their son to uplift the morale of the team after fighting their best throughout the season. Danielle said those were the words her son learnt from his father Mr 360°.

“Our little AB, told me tonight to remember that it’s not about winning, it’s about enjoying the game and giving your best,” Danielle wrote in a caption posted on her Instagram handle.

“Words he learnt from his father. I guess I couldn’t say it better. I’m a proud wife and a proud mama. What a privilege it’s been to have been with the team for the whole of the 2021 IPL. Memories we will cherish forever,” she wrote further.

The former South Africa skipper made a slight correction to his son’s learning and wrote that one should always enjoy the game.

“I’ll rephrase.. it’s not JUST about winning, but ALSO enjoying it and ALWAYS giving your best,” Mr 360° commented.

KKR will meet Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 2 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Wednesday (October 13).
