IPL 2021: Avesh Khan To Be Available For Delhi Capitals (DC) In The UAE Leg

Avesh Khan will be available to play for Delhi Capitals during the UAE leg of IPL 2021. The right-arm pacer took a flight to UAE from Delhi on Friday (September 3). Avesh Khan suffered a thumb injury earlier and was undergoing recovery at the National Cricket Academy.

In the 1st leg of IPL 2021, the 24-year-old pacer gave an astonishing performance in bowling. The Delhi Capitals pacer picked 14 wickets in just 8 matches at an average of 16.50. Khan was Delhi Capitals’ highest wicket-taker and 2nd highest overall after RCB’s Harshal Patel.

Avesh Khan Set To Play For Delhi Capitals In IPL 2021 UAE Leg

On Friday (September 3), the Delhi Capitals franchise shared a photo of Avesh Khan on their official Twitter account. In the post, the Delhi Capitals pacer can be seen boarding his flight to UAE from Delhi for IPL 2021. Have a look at the post below.

Avesh Khan was selected as a support player in the India squad for the England tour. However, during a warm-up game, he injured his left thumb. As a result, he was ruled out of the tournament and returned to India. Later, he underwent recovery at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Now, he has totally recovered and will join the DC squad in UAE soon.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals hold the top spot in the IPL 2021 points table. The Rishabh Pant-side has the most 12 points. Out of 8 games, the team has won 6 and lost only 2. Delhi Capitals lost two games against Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 1st leg.

However, they managed to defeat Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, and Kolkata Knight Riders while also defeating Punjab Kings in two encounters.  Delhi Capitals will commence their IPL 2021 journey in UAE leg with the match against  Sunrisers Hyderabad on September 22. The venue of the match is Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

Shreyas Iyer, who did not play for Delhi Capitals in the first leg to an elbow injury, will also be available to play for the DC in the second leg. However, he will not don the role of skipper. The franchise has decided to keep Rishabh Pant as the skipper for the remainder of IPL 2021.
