IPL 2021 is all set to restart with the opening match between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians on Sunday in Dubai.

With 10 points from seven matches, CSK are placed second on the points table as of now while their rivals MI are in the fourth position with eight points.

CSK would be lacking a bit in batting firepower on UAE tracks: Virender Sehwag

Both the teams have some top-class players, who will put their weight in the game to bring a difference to their respective teams. CSK were tremendous in the first phase of IPL as they came stronger after a dismal performance in IPL 2020.

Given that the second phase of IPL 2021 will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sehwag thinks that CSK batsmen will lack on the sluggish tracks.

Sehwag thinks Mumbai Indians, who won the previous battle between the two sides in Delhi, will be the winner in the upcoming clash.

“Chennai’s average score in India was 201 during the first phase but I think when it comes to UAE tracks, they would be lacking a bit in batting firepower. If I have to pick one team, that will be Mumbai,” Sehwag told news agency PTI.

“Since the second half has been shifted to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, I think Delhi and Mumbai will again be favourites and the five-time champions are slightly ahead,” he added.

Won’t be  surprised if there are some changes in India’s original squad: Virender Sehwag

BCCI has already named a preliminary 15-member squad with an addition of three reserved players for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE.

With most teams left with seven more matches to play in the second leg, Sehwag thinks those players who missed the cut in India’s squad can push their chances by their performance.

“100%. We have around seven matches minimum left for the teams. That means you still have a platform to perform and those who are on the fringes could still impress the Indian selectors who would be watching the tournament closely,” Sehwag said.

“Since ICC allows a window to change teams, I will not be surprised if there are some changes in the original squad,” he added.

Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians match will start at 7:30 PM live from Dubai International Stadium.
