The countdown for IPL 2021 UAE leg has begun as the tournament will commence in a couple of days. In the opening encounter on September 19, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians will battle against each other. The CSK vs MI match of IPL 2021 will take place at Dubai International Stadium.

CSK vs MI final in IPL 2013 was a historic match. While Chennai Super Kings were eyeing their 3rd IPL title, Mumbai Indians were still seeking to win their first-ever IPL trophy. Opting to bat first, Mumbai Indians put up 148-9 on the scoreboard. MI’s top order totally failed, going back to dug-out with just 52-4 on the scoreboard.

However, lower-order Kieron Pollard smacked unbeaten 60 runs off 32 to take MI to 148-9 in the end. CSK’s Dwayne Bravo picked a marvellous 4-wicket haul. While the target looked in range for CSK, they struggled heavily against MI’s bowling attack. CSK’s top order fell cheaply against MI, and they were restricted to just 39-6 in 7.3 overs.

MS Dhoni was the lone good performer for the team with his unbeaten 63 runs. MS Dhoni kept his wicket at one end but the rest of the batsmen lost their wickets cheaply. In the end, CSK reached 125-9 at the end of 20 overs and MI won the match by 23 runs, bagging their maiden IPL trophy.

CSK vs MI final in IPL 2015 was another thrilling encounter that CSK ended on the losing end. Batting first, Mumbai Indians smacked a mammoth 202-5 on the board. Opener Lendl Simmons shattered 68 runs while one-down Rohit Sharma also smacked 50 runs. Later, Kieron Pollard and Ambati Rayudu’s quickfire knocks of 36 helped MI to cross 200 runs on the scoreboard.

In response, CSK could only manage 161-8 in 20 overs. Opener Dwayne Smith scored valuable 57 runs. However, other batsmen could not smash a big knock. Mitchell McClenaghan bagged 3 wickets for MI while Lasith Malinga and Harbhajan Singh picked 2 scalps. CSK eventually ended on the losing side with MI winning the IPL 2015 trophy.

IPL 2019 final between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings was a nail-biting match that saw the result coming off the very final delivery. Batting first, Mumbai Indians piled up 148-9 on the scoreboard. Kieron Pollard played a crucial unbeaten knock of 41 runs off 25 balls.

Later, CSK lost the match by 1 run despite opener Shane Watson smacking a fabulous 80-run knock. The match went to the final ball where CSK needed 2 runs to win. On the final ball, Lasith Malinga bowled a fantastic yorker delivery to dismiss Shardul Thakur by lbw. As a result, MI pulled off a victory by just 1 run and won their 4th IPL trophy.
