IPL 2021: Gautam Gambhir Feels KL Rahul Has More Shots Than Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma In India

Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir mentioned that KL Rahul has more ability than the captain and vice-captain of the Indian team and credited him for his performance. KL Rahul pulled out his trigger and played one of the best IPL innings of all time with a 42 ball 98. He certainly deserved a century but was unfortunately no more runs were left to chase down.

CSK batted first and could put up just 134 on the board in their first innings. In reply, Punjab chased down the score in just 13 overs and put up an excellent show. KL Rahul was the star of the show hitting with seven fours and eight sixes in his innings and it was absolute carnage out there.

Gautam Gambhir questioned KL Rahul of why he has been playing slowly when he can play a quickfire knock against CSK. He added that Rahul has more shots in the book more than Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in India and was quite pleased with his performance.

“If you can bat like this, why don’t you bat like this? He probably has more ability than Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. I am not saying it just because I have seen KL Rahul doing it today, he just has it. He has got more shots than anyone else in India. And he showed that again,” Gambhir said on ESPNCricinfo.

Gautam Gambhir wanted KL Rahul to play a lot more innings like the one against CSK and doesn’t want him to play the anchor role that he has been playing so far. He added that KL Rahul will be talked about a lot like Virat and Rohit if he can play innings like those and mentioned that Punjab would have qualified if he had played a lot more innings like this.

“Just go play, man. Let the world cherish, not only India. Show this world your ability. When people talk about Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, they will probably talk about you. Because you have got many more shots compared to anyone else in India,”

“Had he played like this, Punjab Kings would’ve qualified by now. It is probably the pressure of captaincy, I don’t know what it is, but the team management can answer.”Gambhir said.

KL Rahul has already scored a 14 ball fifty in the IPL 2018 and he can be very devastating if he gets going.
