Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) may not have made it into the playoffs in the IPL 2020 in UAE, but there is little doubt about the two-time IPL winners as the IPL 2021 edition nears. KKR had changed their captain from Dinesh Karthik to Eoin Morgan in midst of the IPL 2020 tournament.
We Are In A Really Strong Position This Year: KKR Captain Eoin Morgan
KKR finished 5th on the points table in 2020 with 7 wins and as many losses in the season but seem to have covered most of the bases for the 14th edition commencing from the 9th of April. Morgan felt that the experience of last year and the squad that they have formed this year will be beneficial for them.

“We really have a strong chance this year. Having gone through the experience last year, my first year as captain, Brendon McCullum’s first year as coach. Learning more and more about the players who would benefit us in a huge amount this year. We are in a really strong position, we have guys fully fit at the moment and when you look down the line, particularly on paper, our team looks pretty strong,” Morgan said.
KKR bought Harbhajan Singh, Shakib Al Hasan, and Ben Cutting, while also added are Sheldon Jackson, Pawan Negi, Venkatesh Iyer, and Vaibhav Arora to the squad. This will also be the first time no team will play any match on their home ground, given the current COVID-19 pandemic, with IPL 2021 being played at Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad.

“We’ve had a really good auction and good recruitment process in getting new players in that offer different things when it comes to selection. Given that we play more and different venues this year, that gives us more options than ever,” said Morgan.
KKR start its campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 11.
