It has been announced by the Mumbai Indians that their legendary icon player Sachin Tendulkar will be joining the team in the UAE for the upcoming second half of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021). The master-blaster couldn’t join the team when the tournament was being held in India due to COVID restrictions.
Sachin Tendulkar was the icon player named by Mumbai Indians owners Mukesh Ambani when the team was bought by them in the inaugural IPL in 2008. He has captained the MI team from 2008-2012 with moderate success.
Ever since retiring from the game and the Indian Premier League, Tendulkar has been associated with the franchise in form of a mentor and icon and has been a constant presence in the MI dressing room for various matches. Now with him joining the MI contingent in UAE, fans and players have a new excitement for the upcoming IPL 2021 second phase.

He was also picked by the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2021 auctions for his base price of INR 20 lakhs. However, Arjun is yet to play any match for the five-time IPL champions, and nor did Sachin Tendulkar was with the MI squad for the first half of the IPL 2021.
This year, he had to skip the first half of the season due to COVID-19 as he had tested positive for the infection after the Road Safety World Series. Tendulkar will be tested a few times during the isolation period and will be allowed to come out of his room once he clears all the tests.
