All-rounders play a huge part in the modern game and the IPL auction 2021 was the best example of it where the franchises were eager to get quality all-rounders into their team. Chris Morris’s ability with the bat lower down the order earned him the tag for the most expensive player in the IPL Auction history for a price of 16.25 crores surpassing Yuvraj Singh.

A top 6 batsman who can bowl 4 overs is a great asset to any team. The game has come across legendary all-rounders with the likes of Ian Botham, Kapil Dev, Jacques Kallis and it is time for the younger generation to step up.

The all-rounders can have a massive impact on the game in both the departments and provide an added advantage to their team.

IPL 2021: Rating All 8 Teams On The Basis Of Their All-Rounders

8. Punjab Kings – 7/10

Punjab Kings looks like a team that doesn’t have to bank on their all-rounders to come good. The only quality all-rounder they have roped in the IPL Auction 2021 is Moises Henriques while Deepak Hooda, Shahrukh Khan can roll their arm over for the team if needed. They have let go of James Neesham who can finish off the innings at 6 as well as bowls the medium pace which wasn’t the best option

Chris Jordan is another good option for the all-rounder spot but is more of a bowler who can bat a bit. Punjab Kings are most likely to pack their bowling with 2 overseas quicks and 2 overseas top-order batsmen which will mean that if the main bowler has an off day, they will require one or two overs from the likes of Chris Gayle or the Indian middle order.

7. Royal Challengers Bangalore – 7.5/10

Glenn Maxwell

Royal Challengers Bangalore has bought the New Zealand tall fast bowler, Kyle Jamieson who will be playing his first IPL. His ability with the bat down the order is one of the reasons behind the teams going after him. Since he is relatively new and young, it will be tough to predict if he can be successful right away.

RCB has let go of Chris Morris who was the renowned all-rounder last year and has bagged the services of Glenn Maxwell who bowls some useful off-spin apart from his clinical striking abilities. Washington Sundar and  Daniel Christian are the other all-rounders in the team who can be handy in both departments.

6. Sunrisers Hyderabad – 7.5/10

Jason Holder

Sunrisers Hyderabad has a lot of all-rounder options in their squad with the likes of Mohammad Nabi, Jason Holder, and Mitchell Marsh. With the team combination affected by Bairstow at the top, they will certainly need an all-rounder in the middle who can handle the pressure really well in the middle order. Jason Holder had an excellent season last year.

They have plenty of Indian batsmen who can bowl a few overs including Vijay Shankar, Abishek Sharma, Kedar Jadhav, and Abdul Samad. Rashid Khan has improved his batting abilities really well and looks to be a good prospect at seven. The Sunrisers lack an Indian quality all-rounder and they will look to Vijay Shankar for playing the role in IPL 2021.

5. Rajasthan Royals – 8/10

Ben Stokes

Rajasthan Royals have improved their all-round setup vastly in the auction this year and have got a number of options in the squad. They have bought in Shivam Dube and Chris Morris who have done well in the past and they already have the services of Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer in the team. Rahul Tewatia’s heroics with the bat was a major boost in their all-rounder’s department.

Ben Stokes is one of the best all-rounders going around in the world right now and is a match-winner on any day. Young Riyan Parag can bowl some leg spin while leg spinner Shreyas Gopal plays higher up the order for Karnataka in the domestic tournaments. They have a lot of bowling options apart from batting deep and have some good quality all-rounders too for the IPL 2021.

 4. Kolkata Knight Riders – 8/10

Andre Russell

Kolkata Knight Riders have one of the most destructive all-rounders in the game in the form of Andre Russell and Sunil Narine. Narine though has shifted down the order now can still be handy at seven with his four economical overs. Russell’s poor form last year had been a major issue and his injury concerns will be taken into consideration.

Kolkata bagged Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan who had been quite impressive over the years in international cricket. He can play in the top six as well as can back it up with 4 good overs. Pat Cummins is a handy batsman at seven while they have got Ben Cutting too in the mix. They lack Indian quality all-rounders and Pawan Negi looks like the only possible option out there for the IPL 2021.

3. Delhi Capitals – 8.5/10

Marcus Stoinis

Delhi Capitals have invested in Marcus Stoinis at six as the all-rounder and it paid rewards as he revived the team on many occasions with the ball as well as with the bat. Axar Patel is a quality all-rounder at 7 while Ashwin is too good to be a number 8. They have got the likes of Tom Curran and Chris Woakes as the backup options who have had a good experience.

The problem with the Delhi Capitals is that the top five batsmen don’t bowl and Marcus Stoinis becomes a certainty to play all the games. They have domestic all-rounders in the form of Lalit Yadav as the backup option for Axar Patel and look more solid. They would have hoped for some more options in the all-rounder category with the strong squad they have for the IPL 2021.

2. Chennai Super Kings – 9/10

Ravindra Jadeja

Chennai Super Kings have got the problem of plenty as they have a number of options in their squad. They have the quality in Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, and Sam Curran while Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar can strike some lusty blows down the order. Suresh Raina’s return adds up some more overs if needed and gives them another option too.

They have roped in K Gowtham and Moeen Ali who can be brutal with the bat as well bowl some decent off-spin. They have backups filled too with Mitchell Santner waiting in the wings and young Indian all-rounder, Bagath Varma, too for the IPL 2021.

1.Mumbai Indians – 9.5/10

Hardik Pandya(IPL)

Mumbai Indians have the strongest all-rounder setup with Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya batting in the middle order as well as can bowl 8 solid overs. They have also Kieron Pollard who can bowl a few and can be devastating with the bat. They bat deep till Nathan Coulter-Nile at eight and have also bagged the veteran leg spinner Piyush Chawla who is too good to be a number eight.

They have pretty good backups for every all-rounder spot with U-19 star Anukul Roy and sneaked in James Neesham into the squad as alike to like for Pollard. They can play Jayant Yadav if they need another spinner too and he can be handy with the bat too lower down the order.
