Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) received a heavy blow ahead of the second phase of IPL 2021 as bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of IPL 2021 because of a finger injury.
The 21-year-old off-spinner had fractured one of his fingers during a warm-up game between India and County XI where he was hit by a Mohammed Siraj delivery in July, subsequently, he missed the Test series between India and England and returned to India for his recovery.

Akash Deep Nath likely to replace Washington Sundar in RCB squad

Bengal pace bowler Akash Deep Nath who has been with RCB as a net bowler is likely to replace Washington Sundar in the squad for the remaining fixtures.  Sundar featured in six games for RCB in IPL 2021 and picked three wickets and scored 31 runs.
RCB recently signed three foreign players with the Sri Lankan duo of Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera replaced Australia players Adam Zampa and Daniel Sams respectively. While Singapore batsman Tim David came in for New Zealand’s Finn Allen.

Will RCB be affected by Washinton Sundar’s absence?

The Virat Kohli led franchise has been benefitted with the signing of Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and New Zealand’s lanky pacer Kyle Jamieson in IPL 2021. Both the players have played an important role for the team so far and Hasaranga’s inclusion bolsters the team’s muscle power.
Hasaranaga played a crucial role in helping Sri Lanka to win their first-ever T20I series win against India in July and he will be the right man who can fill up the space of Washington Sundar.

RCB will resume their IPL 2021 campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders on September 20 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
