IPL 2021: Sanju Samson Becomes 14th Indian, Overall 19th Batsman To Score 3000 Runs In IPL

The newly appointed captain of Rajasthan Royals (RR) Sanju Samson has become the 14th Indian cricketer to score 3000 runs in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Overall he is the only 19th batsman to reach this enormous milestone.

The skipper of Rajasthan Royals Sanju Samson played an exceptional knock in the 40th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 against Kane Williamson-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Monday, September 27.

Sanju Samson added two half-century partnerships in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) first with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and then with Mahipal Lomror.

Notably, he was leading the team from the front and scored 82 runs off 57 deliveries including 7 fours and 3 maximums. The 26-year-old batted with a strike rate of 143.86.

Also now Sanju Samson holds the orange cap as he became the leading run-scorer of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. As he has scored 433 runs this season at an average of 54.12 and strike rate of 141.96 with his highest being 119.

Talking about the overall stats of wicketkeeper-batsman he has amassed 3017 runs in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 117 games. In those games, he has faced 2237 balls and batted with an average of 29.87 and a strike rate of 134.86.

Before Sanju Samson 14 Indian cricketers have already scored over 3000 runs in the cash-rich league. The Indian players who have already smashed 3000 IPL runs are, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan, MS Dhoni, Robin Uthappa, Gautam Gambhir, Dinesh Karthik, Ajinkya Rahane, Manish Pandey, Ambati Rayudu, Yusuf Pathan and KL Rahul. Meanwhile, overseas players who have achieved this milestone are Kieron Pollard, Shane Watson, Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers and David Warner.

Coming back to the Rajasthan Royals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad battle, team RR posted 164 runs on the board at the loss of 5 wickets after winning the toss and opting to bat first. If they want to keep their hopes alive for the playoffs, Royals have to emerge victorious against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
