Star Bangladeshi players Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman may not be available for the second phase of the IPL 2021, which is slated to be played in the UAE in September-October, as announced by the BCCI in its AGM.
The IPL 2021 had to be postponed on May 4 due to multiple players, coaches, and support staff testing positive for the COVID-19 virus. 29 matches out of 60 were played thus far and now the remaining 31 matches including the three playoffs and the final will be hosted in the UAE. BCCI revealed that they had received the all-clear from the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB).
Shakib Al Hasan Has No Chance Of Playing The Remaining IPL 2021 Matches, Same For Mustafizur Rahman: BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon
The BCCI is yet to confirm the availabilities of the foreign players, but till now, ECB director of cricket Ashley Giles has confirmed that England players may not be allowed to play in the second half of the IPL 2021, due to their packed international calendar in September-October.
And now, Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hassan Papon has confirmed that Shakib Al Hasan will not be given the NOC to participate in the IPL 2021, where he is expected to play for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Bangladesh will be facing England during that time. England is expected to arrive in Dhaka by September 20 to play three ODIs (as part of Cricket World Cup Super League) and three T20Is. Hence, Shakib (Kolkata Knight Riders) and Mustafizur (Rajasthan Royals) will not play any further part in the IPL.
“Shakib has no chance of playing the remaining IPL matches because England will be touring Bangladesh for a series at that time. He won’t be getting NOC,” Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hassan Papon said to bdcrictime.
The same is expected to be applied to Mustafizur Rahman as well, given that both of them were allowed to skip Bangladesh’s Test tour of Sri Lanka in April-May for IPL. BCB had assigned NOCs for Shakib and Mustafizur until May 18, so that they could join the Bangladesh camp for Sri Lanka ODIs at home.
Bangladesh will also host Australia and New Zealand for five T20Is each throughout August and September.
