It is always special to make a debut in IPL for any player and it becomes even more fascinating to start the IPL career with a six and will be cherished for a long time. It is not easy to hit a six in one of the best leagues going around in the tournament as high-quality fast bowlers take part in the league.
To add to it, there is a lot of pressure on debut for any player to deliver as there are many players who are waiting in the wings to get a chance. The IPL 2021 is set to get underway on April 9 and it is time to look at three players who started their IPL career with a six.
3 Players Who Began Their IPL Career With A Six:
Kevon Cooper:
Kevon Cooper was a regular feature in the Rajasthan Royals line-up from 2012 to the 2014 season and he started his IPL career with a six against the Punjab team in the 2012 season in Jaipur. He is a good hitter down the order as well as bowls good yorkers and has a lot of variations up his sleeve to dismantle the batsman. He was picked up in the auction citing his good performances in the IPL.
Kevon Cooper has played a lot of franchise cricket around the globe and he had some good numbers in IPL. He played 25 IPL games taking 33 wickets at an average of 22.94. His best match figures are four wickets for 26 runs and have turned around some matches for Rajasthan to winning from nowhere. He had been reported for suspect bowling action in the past and is playing for the Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL.
Siddhesh Lad:
Siddhesh Lad was benched for three seasons and he had to wait till the 2019 season to make his debut for the Mumbai Indians in place of injured Rohit. He did get a good start to his IPL career as he started with a six but was dismissed for just 15 runs in the innings. He was transferred to the Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the auction in 2020 and he still waits for his opportunity to showcase his skills.
Javon Searles:
Searles faded off after the good start he got and picked up just two wickets in the 4 matches. He is known for improvising shots and plays for the Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL. He was released after the 2018 season by Kolkata Knight Riders and the 34-year-old doesn’t look like making a comeback to the IPL again.
