MS Dhoni has not been in his best form with the bat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. The legendary Indian captain is often seen coming to bat in the lower middle order. Talking about his tally of runs MS Dhoni has scored 51 runs in 9 games at an average of 12.75. However, Dhoni’s inconsistencies with the bat remain unjudged as CSK continues to shine under the smart tactician Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Meanwhile, Speaking on Star Sports, Gautam Gambhir said Dhoni should promote himself in the batting order so that he can spend some more time on the crease. The former Indian cricketer wishes to see the Chennai Super Kings captain bat at number 4.

“MS Dhoni should bat at No.4 once CSK qualifies for the playoffs, irrespective of whether you are chasing or batting first so that you are able to spend time in the middle. I will want to see that, hopefully it happens. The best thing about a captain is that it is his own wish, he can bat anywhere he wants,” Gambhir said.

Meanwhile, the 39-year-old further added that number 3 and number 4 batsmen will not always score runs for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) so MS Dhoni needs to step up and score more runs and things will be easier for everyone.

“Your No.3 and No.4 will not always score runs. You need to bat a little more. The more runs you score, it will keep getting easier,” he added.

“You will qualify for the playoffs but it should not happen that the responsibility falls on you, you lose early wickets and you have to come and score runs,” Gautam Gambhir signed off.
