Mumbai Indians (MI) the defending champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will begin the second leg of the IPL 2021 in UAE by facing off against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on September 19 in the desert country.

The IPL 2021 had to be suspended in May 2021 due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in the franchise’s bio-bubbles as India was facing the second wave of COVID pandemic in April-May. Four players, multiple support staff, and other personnel were also infected with this deadly virus, which led the BCCI and IPL governing council to postponed the 14th edition of the tournament.

Later, the BCCI moved the tournament to the UAE, which had successfully hosted the IPL 2020 6 months earlier and there is also the possibility of crowds attending the matches as well.
