Virat Kohli Is Not Going To Leave Until He Wins An IPL For RCB - Dale Steyn

Former South Africa speedster Dale Steyn feels Virat Kohli will not leave the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) until he wins an IPL trophy.
He also lauded the RCB skipper for downplaying any questions fans would have had about his commitment to the Indian team and RCB after he stepped down from the captaincy of first the national side in T20Is and then, on Sunday, of his franchise.
Kohli has been with RCB since the inaugural season in 2008 and became the regular captain in 2013. However, he and his team still chase their maiden IPL title.
“He may be just trying to put out and extinguish some fires before they happened, having relinquished the Indian captaincy. If he had two or three bad scores in the next couple of games people might start questioning whether he should give up the RCB captaincy too. So before that even comes into question, he may have decided that let me just say that this is also part of my thinking,” Dale Steyn told ESPNCricinfo.
“It is nice to know that he has committed himself to the team and he wants to be there to see an IPL trophy come to RCB. He has given so many years and I think that is in the back of his mind too that he is not going to leave until he wins an IPL for RCB,” he added.
Virat is originally from Delhi and could finish with Capitals: Dale Steyn
Dale Steyn, who was at RCB last season, also didn’t banish the possibilities of Kohli finishing his career at some other franchise.
The 32-year-old RCB skipper said in his statement that he would be at his current franchise till the end of his career, but the Protea fast bowler reckons it may not by Kohli’s decision in the end.
“It does boil down to the coaches and the RCB management at the end of the day. It doesn’t matter how good a player you are, you could see yourself walking. We’ve seen Chris Gayle leave the team. We have seen David Beckham leave Manchester United after playing for an entire lifespan for them.
“You never really know, you have these famous people playing for their clubs for a long time and who knows. Virat is originally from Delhi and for all we know, Delhi (Capitals) could say come finish with us,” Steyn stated.
As for now, RCB will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders in Abu Dhabi on Monday. They currently are placed third in the points table with 5 wins and 2 losses.
