Things have headed towards disaster for the Kolkata Knight Riders as their captain Eoin Morgan went back for a diamond duck in the ongoing clash against the Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai. Eoin Morgan walked to the middle with the Knight Riders needing him to play a blinder to rescue them from a chained position. Instead, the southpaw fell short at the non-striker’s end after involving in a mix-up with Rahul Tripathi.

The dismissal occurred in the 11th over with only 61 on the board when Rahul Tripathi, who tried breaking the shackles, drove firmly down the ground. The ball hit Eoin Morgan’s toe end and deflected to Chris Morris, the bowler. By that time, both the bowlers had left their crease and were a long way out, with the ball having not gone far. Morris picked up the ball and struck the stumps at the non-striker’s end, with Morgan short by some distance and had to depart without facing a ball.

It was a tame end to Eoin Morgan’s stay, having already endured a horror run with the bat so far. Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders were already off to a sluggish start as Shubman Gill and Nitish Rana could not get their team off to an electric start. Both perished after playing unimpactful knocks, while Sunil Narine was the third batsman to fall. The Knight Riders made one change by bringing in Shivam Mavi for Kamlesh Nagarkoti. On the other hand, the Royals drafted Yashasvi Jaiswal for Manan Vohra and Jaydev Unadkat for Shreyas Gopal.
