Punjab Kings batsman Nicholas Pooran has endured a horror IPL 2021 thus far, having not lived up to the billing or building on his last year’s performances. Nicholas Pooran has registered his fourth duck of this year’s lucrative T20 league, departing at the wrong time in the ongoing clash against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Ahmedabad. The hard-hitting southpaw faced only three balls before walking back to the pavilion.

Nicholas Pooran’s dismissal occurred in the 12th over when he helped a short-pitched delivery from Kyle Jamieson to a backward point. The southpaw looked to defend it; however, he got a leading edge that spooned to Shahbaz Ahmed, who took a simple catch. Kyle Jamieson, who earlier conceded 20 runs off his second over, took his second wicket for the night – his first was Prabhsimran Singh.

With Pooran making nowhere near the kind of impact he did last year, one would have to assume that Dawid Malan could replace him for the next match. Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to field first. The three-time finalists made one change, bringing Ahmed in place of Washington Sundar. On the other hand, Punjab Kings brought in Harpreet Brar, Riley Meredith, and Prabhsimran Singh for Arshdeep Singh, Moises Henriques, and Mayank Agarwal.
