One of the most-anticipated player battles in the second match of IPL 2021 between Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings was between Sam Curran and Tom Curran. The pair of brothers hailing from England is one of the promising white-ball cricketers in the world and managed to grab million-dollar IPL deals. As Sam Curran already stated before the game, there would be sledges between them, but the younger one reigned supreme in the first innings over Tom.
Sam Curran took Tom Curran to the cleaners in his fourth over and the 19th of the innings. The left-hander took off from where he left in the third ODI against India, as he smacked a flurry of boundaries to propel the Super Kings to a competitive total. Curran began the over with a four and proceeded to hammer two maximums in the third and fourth delivery, followed by another boundary in the second last ball. Overall, Curran and Ravindra Jadeja collected 23 runs off the over.
Tom Curran, who had earlier dismissed Ambati Rayudu to break a threatening partnership, finished with figures of 4-0-40-1. As for Sam Curran, his fireworks ended in the final ball of the innings as Chris Woakes disturbed his off-stump, departing for a 15-ball 34, laced with four fours and two sixes. The youngster played a massive hand in lifting the Super Kings to 188-7 in their stipulated 20 overs. Suresh Raina top-scored with 54, followed by invaluable contributions from Curran and Ravindra Jadeja.
