Rashid Khan first climbed to the top of the rankings in February 2018:

The 24-year-old Rashid Khan first gained top billing as the No. 1 T20I bowler back in 2018 and has since been a very reliable player in the game’s shortest format. In Sharjah, the right-armer picked up a wicket against Pakistan in each of the three games, with his stingy economy rate in both of Afghanistan’s triumphs in the opening two games of the series standing out.

It was the first time Afghanistan had defeated Pakistan in a bilateral T20I series, and star spinner Rashid Khan was the biggest winner, surpassing Sri Lankan tweaker Wanindu Hasaranga to reclaim the top spot in the T20I bowling rankings.

As per recent stellar performances, India opener Shubman Gill has risen to a career-high rating of 738 points in fifth place in the ICC ODI batting rankings, while Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has climbed one spot to eighth overall.
