GT vs MI: “Hardik Pandya Is Learning All The Time About Captaincy” - Simon Doull Feels Getting Away From Mumbai Indians Was Best Thing For GT Skipper

Former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull feels that getting away from Mumbai Indians (MI) has been the best thing for Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya. He said that both have grown as leaders and are on the top of their game.

Both Hardik and Krunal were the lynchpin of the Mumbai Indians’ lineup till the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. The destructive duo of brothers achieved great success for the franchise and played an instrumental role in their title wins.

Ever since joining GT, we have seen the best of Hardik Pandya in the IPL as he has given himself a greater role with both bat and ball and also won the title in his first season as a captain in IPL. Whereas on the other hand, Krunal has been performing well for Lucknow as well.

Simon Doull said that since leaving MI, Hardik and Krunal have upped their game and have grown in stature. Speaking on Cricbuzz, he said:

“Getting away from MI has been the best thing for Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya’s game. Growing as leaders, I mean Krunal is not captaining, but he is a real leader in that Lucknow side.”

Simon Doull further went on to hail Hardik Pandya as a great leader and said that he’s growing and is the future Indian captain. He added:

“Hardik is learning all the time about captaincy and how teams operate. He is a genuinely good captain and a terrific cricketer. He is just growing and growing in that role and is a future India captain in the white-ball format in particular.”

Hardik is currently leading GT in the IPL 2023. His side is doing a terrific job and are currently fourth on the points table. Whereas Krunal is the vice-captain of the LSG and his side is second on the table.
