Aakash Chopra Picks His Best Delhi Capitals Playing XI
Delhi Capitals begin their IPL 2023 campaign against Lucknow Super Giants on April 1. Ahead of the season, Aakash Chopra has picked his probable XI for the franchise. He started by picking David Warner and Prithvi Shaw as his openers. The duo was the most destructive opening combination in IPL 2022.
“What could be Delhi’s XI? You can get David Warner to open alongside Prithvi Shaw. You can keep Mitchell Marsh at No. 3 because you will not send either David Warner or Prithvi Shaw at No. 3” said Chopra on his Youtube channel.
Chopra then picked two Indian batters in the middle-order with Manish Pandey at number four. He then chose Rovman Powell or Rilee Rossouw as his number five option and Sarfaraz Khan as his sixth batter.
“Then you will have to have Manish Pandey at No. 4. Remember that there is no keeper thus far. Then Rilee Rossouw or Rovman Powell at No. 5. At No. 6, Sarfaraz Khan or any other keeper. We don’t even know who is going to keep. I am thinking Sarfaraz Khan but I don’t know” Chopra said further.

The former Indian opener then went on to pick DC’s lower-order slotting Axar Patel at number seven. He then picked Kuldeep Yadav as his specialist spinner with Anrich Nortje as one of his overseas specialists along with two more Indian bowlers.
“Then Axar Patel at No. 7. After that, Kuldeep Yadav and three pacers among your four bowlers. That’s what I am thinking because Mitchell Marsh is not bowling. In the three pacers, you can have Anrich Nortje, Chetan Sakariya, and either Mukesh Kumar or Ishant Sharma.”
Don’t Think They Will Come Close This Time: Aakash Chopra On Delhi Capitals
Chopra concluded by saying that Delhi Capitals might not go on to win the title this time around. The franchise is only among the three original franchise to not win the IPL trophy still and Chopra feels it will remain the same this year with year with the Capitals.
“Only three teams (from the original franchises) have not lifted the trophy so far – Punjab, Delhi and RCB. Delhi have also come close, all teams come close sometime or the other, but I don’t think they will come close this time” Aakash Chopra concluded saying.
