IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Gujarat Titans (GT) Players Delhi Capitals (DC) Can Target. Against all expectations, Gujarat Titans went on to win IPL 2022. No one gave them a chance after the auction ended. However, the management was brilliant with its utilization of resources and tactics. The team had a few issues after the bright start but finished the tournament well. Nevertheless, the opposition teams would now be warier of GT.

IPL 2022 winners Gujarat Titans have traded Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz to Shreyas Iyer’s Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of IPL 2023. The likes of Vijay Shankar, Matthew Wade, Varun Aaron, Dominic Drakes, and Gurkeerat Singh Mann may be released by the defending champions ahead of IPL 2023.

England opening batsman Jason Roy will not be part of defending champions Gujarat Titans. Jason Roy was bagged by GT at a cost of INR 2 crore, but the right-handed batter did not participate in the last concluded edition due to an extended bio-bubble stay, which would have kept him away from his family.

Australian wicketkeeper-batter Matthew Wade had a torrid time during IPL 2023. The left-handed batter was given a number of chances to prove his worth. However, he failed to deliver at the top order and he might be released ahead of the IPL mini-auction. The defending champion Gujarat Titans may also retain Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade ahead of the IPL mini-auction in Kochi on December 23.

Delhi Capitals who still wait to enlist their name in the IPL winners list ended up in 5th position in the last IPL season. Delhi Capitals have won 7 games in the 14 games they played and pushed to 5th position in the IPL 2022 Points Table with a total point of 14. GMR Sports Pvt. Ltd & JSW Sports Pvt Ltd owned team have been inconsistent throughout the IPL 2022 season.

It is learned that ahead of IPL 2023 auction, all teams are asked to submit their final list of retained players by November 15, 2022. In order to avoid a massive collapse all teams will look to retain their star performers and will release the rest. It is expected that all teams will retain a maximum of 15 players ahead of the tournament. The likes of Mandeep Singh, Lalit Yadav, Pravin Dubey, and Ripal Patel may be released by the franchise before IPL 2023.

India fast bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur is set to turn up for Kolkata Knight Riders in the next edition of the Indian Premier League 2023 as his former franchise Delhi Capitals traded him for uncapped Mumbai all-rounder Aman Khan.

Australia’s wicket-keeper batter Matthew Wade gets with him a wealth of experience. His credentials in the shortest format of the game are well-known after stringing in some vital performances for his franchise in Australia’s local domestic T20 tournaments and for the national side.

He played for Delhi Daredevils (DD) in 2011 and turned up for Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2022. He returned to the IPL after a hiatus of 11 years. Bought for INR 2.40 crore by Gujarat, Matthew Wade played 10 matches where he scored 157 runs at 15.70.

The 34-year-old keeper scored only 157 runs in 10 matches, averaging 15.7 at a strike rate of 113.77 and if released by Gujarat Titans, he may be snapped up by his former franchise Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023.

Vijay Shankar

Versatile with the bat and someone who controls the middle overs with the bat, Vijay Shankar was bought by the Gujarat Titans for INR 1.4 crore at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. However, he had a horrible IPL 2022, where he managed a horrible outing scoring only 19 runs in 4 T20Is averaging a mere 4.75 at a below-par strike rate of 54.29.

He also had a poor IPL 2021, scoring 58 runs in 7 games averaging 11.6. He may be targeted by Punjab Kings in IPL 2023. He had played the most games for Sunrisers Hyderabad-33 scoring exactly 500 runs. He has also taken 9 scalps-8 for SRH. He may be picked up by Delhi in IPL 2023.

Varun Aaron

An experienced fast bowler, Varun Aaron was bought by the Gujarat Titans for his base price of INR 50 lakhs at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. One of the fastest bowlers in India, Varun Aaron’s career had been marred by injuries time and again deflating his innate talent.

Varun Aaron has represented 5 IPL teams and he last played a match in IPL 2020 edition of the league before playing IPL 2022 for the eventual champions. The 2014 and 2017 seasons were the most effective ones for Varun Aaron who had shown signs of maturity over the years.

He’s represented the Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Rajasthan Royals, and this season he donned the GT jersey. He picked 2 scalps in as many IPL 2022 games averaging 26 and conceded runs at an economy rate of 10.4. He had failed to pick a wicket in IPL 2020 playing 3 games. He may be targeted by Delhi in IPL 2023 auctions.
