Mumbai Indians (MI) had an IPL 2022 season to forget and with only 4 wins from 14 matches, the Rohit Sharma-led side finished at the last spot in the points table. Since there was a mega auction this year, the franchise couldn’t retain the services of the majority of its players and brought in fresh faces.

Mumbai Indians (MI) has decided to release long-serving Kieron Pollard for IPL 2023. Mumbai Indians- MI has also decided to release Fabian Allen & Tymal Mills and the list has been submitted to the BCCI. Apart from the trio, Mayank Markande and Hrithik Shokeen are said to have been released.

RCB have traded Australian pacer Jason Behrendorff to Mumbai Indians making him the first trade of the season. Jason Behrendorff, who has been part of the Mumbai Indians squad in the IPL in the past, will be rejoining the Rohit Sharma-led franchise ahead of the 2023 season.

Delhi Capitals who still wait to enlist their name in the IPL winners list ended up in 5th position in the last IPL season. Delhi Capitals have won 7 games in the 14 games they played and pushed to 5th position in the IPL 2022 Points Table with a total point of 14. GMR Sports Pvt. It is learned that ahead of IPL 2023 auction, all teams are asked to submit their final list of retained players by November 15, 2022. In order to avoid a massive collapse all teams will look to retain their star performers and will release the rest. It is expected that all teams will retain a maximum of 15 players ahead of the tournament. The likes of Mandeep Singh, Lalit Yadav, Pravin Dubey, and Ripal Patel may be released by the franchise before IPL 2023.

India fast bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur is set to turn up for Kolkata Knight Riders in the next edition of the Indian Premier League 2023 as his former franchise Delhi Capitals traded him for uncapped Mumbai all-rounder Aman Khan.

Kieron Pollard has been with Mumbai Indians since his debut season in 2010. However, in IPL 2022, he performed poorly by scoring only 144 runs in 11 games averaging a mere 14.4 at a below-par strike rate of 107.46. His best score was only 25 in IPL 2022.

Mumbai Indians (MI) decided to release long-serving Kieron Pollard for IPL 2023. Delhi Capitals may target Kieron Pollard in IPL 2023 auctions as they don’t have many overseas all-rounder who can be designated finishers in the team apart from Mitchell Marsh. Kieron Pollard may also lead the Delhi Capitals team if skipper Rishabh Pant is injured in IPL 2023.

Tymal Mills

Much was expected from Tymal Mills but he disappointed in his comeback IPL 2022 season. Bought by Mumbai Indians for INR 1.50 crore, Tymal Mills scalped 6 wickets in 5 matches but bowled with an economy rate of 11.18. The economy rate above 10 is really not acceptable even if a bowler is a death-over specialist.

Tymal Mills, England’s left-arm pacer couldn’t control the flow of runs and his struggles saw him play just 5 matches. MI released him going into the mini-auction. After having made his IPL debut with RCB in 2017, Tymal Mills returned after a gap of 5 years. A death-over specialist, he was snapped up by MI for 1.5 crores. Delhi Capitals might target him in IPL 2023 auctions.

Mayank Markande

Mayank Markande shot to prominence in 2018 after a breakout season with the Mumbai Indians. The spinner was purchased at the Mega Auction by Mumbai after a couple of unremarkable seasons with the Rajasthan Royals. This season (IPL 2022), he only appeared in two games. The leg-spinner ended up sitting on the bench for almost the rest of the season, as the preferences of Murugan Ashwin and Hrithik Shokeen rose through the pecking order.

Mayank Markande was traded twice in the same IPL transfer window as he made his way to Rajasthan Royals from Mumbai Indians via Delhi Capitals. It was a sweet homecoming for this leg-spinner, who made his IPL debut in 2018 and was one of the biggest positives for MI, picking 15 wickets in his maiden season. He has picked 17 scalps in 20 IPL games averaging 30 and if released by Mumbai, he may be snapped up by Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023, teaming him up with spinners Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav.
