Wasim Jaffer, a former Indian opener, has issued a strong warning to Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians (MI) ahead of the IPL 2023 auction.
Jason Behrendorff of Australia has returned to the Mumbai Indians (MI) for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), after Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) chose to trade the left-arm pacer ahead of the retention day.

Premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer are part of the Mumbai Indians’ pace attack, which now includes Behrendorff. The former Indian opener recommended Behrendorff to support pace kingpins Bumrah and Archer at the Wankhede when discussing the Mumbai franchise’s auction strategy. Jaffer did, however, also voiced his concerns on the availability of England pacer Archer, who was forced to miss the entire IPL 2022 season owing to an injury.

“I hope Jofra Archer is in good shape and running.” They are in grave peril if he is not available. Fast-bowling trio Jasprit Bumrah, Archer, and Jason Behrendorff. Akash Madhwal, whom I know from Uttarakhand, is a promising young player. He might have a chance” Wasim Jaffer said.

“However, they are woefully lacking in the spin department. Hrithik Shokeen did play a few games, but he is more of an off-spinner, and he won’t do much if they play at Wankhede. “Kumar Kartikeya got some game action and did well,” Jaffer told ESPNCricinfo.

“The Indian spinners will be available for them”: Wasim Jaffer

Kieron Pollard (INR 6 crore), Daniel Sams (INR 2.6 crore), Jaydev Unadkat (INR 1.3 crore), Mayank Markande (INR 65 lakh), Murugan Ashwin (INR 1.6 crore), Riley Meredith (INR 1 crore), and Tymal Mills (INR 1.5 crore) have all left Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2023 auction.

The Mumbai Indians are anticipated to overpay for a leading spinner at the mini-auction.

“But, you know, there isn’t a lot of experience there.” So they have to go large, picking the spinners carefully; they can’t afford to have too many foreign spinners. Because it doesn’t give them any breathing room”

“Because Tim David, Tristan Stubbs, Archer, and Behrendorff are all expected to play, I’m not sure who the local spinner is. They will have access to Indian spinners. So that’s going to be a challenge. However, all of the freed players are typical suspects. “There aren’t any surprises,” Jaffer remarked.

IPL 2023 auction is set to take place on December 23 next month. The venue of the IPL 2023 mini-auction is Kochi in Kerala.
